From October 29th to November 2, I will walk the thirty mile stretch of Rt 122 North, a newly designated State Scenic Byway. An old toll road, Route 122 stretches northwest to southeast, connecting Route 2 to Worcester, and runs through the rural communities of Orange, New Salem, Petersham, Barre, Oakham, Rutland, and Paxton. It also
touches Harvard Forest and Quabbin Reservoir.
Along the way, I will record the walk with a small, specialized camera. This street-level video is filed in the Internet Archive and the footage can be found here. I will also take still photos on a regular basis. Those photos can be found here.
This "walkumentary" was undertaken to preserve and document this beautiful area for generations to come. I'd like to thank Steve Wallace of the Central Massachusetts Resource Management Project. I'd also like to thank Worcester State College, and the Worcester Telegram and Gazette.
